Course Reading and Writing Strategies


  • DESCRIPCIÓN DEL PROGRAMA:

    The course seeks to equip the English teachers with knowledge and strategies to enhance language skills within academic environments. The main emphasis is on improving students’ confidence and competence in using English in these contexts, with a particular focus on finding and evaluating academic resources, academic writing, and giving presentations in the field of English Language Teaching.

     

    DIRECTED TOWARDS:

    English teachers or people with a degree in a similar area of study, with a good level of English proficiency, and interest in teaching.

     

    OVERALL AIMS:

    The course seeks to develop academic skills, with a solid grounding in the language, style, mechanics, and process of academic writing and with knowledge and strategies to make academic presentations.

    • Academic lexis in oral and written forms
    • Reading comprehension skills
    • The grammar of academic English, in oral and written forms

    Academic writing skills development

    • Features and mechanics of academic writing
    • Judging suitable sources
    • Plagiarism
    • Planning in the writing process
    • Citing and referencing

    Presentational skills

    • General aspects of presentational skills
    • Presentation preparation
    • Structure of presentation
    • Aspects affecting presentation delivery
    • Presentation supporting devices

  • REQUISITOS DE POSTULACIÓN:

    Extranjeros:
    En caso de ser aceptados al programa deberán presentar su Certificado de Título profesional visado por el Consulado de Chile en el país de origen y por el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores en Chile, además de su visa de estudiante al día.

    *La Universidad se reserva el derecho de no dictar el programa si no se llega al número mínimo de alumnos.
    *En caso de continuar los estudios hacia el Magíster, se deberán cumplir además, los requisitos propios de este.
