Course English Language in The Content Areas

Descripción

The purpose of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to effectively organize and implement English language instruction in Content Language and Integrated Learning (CLIL). This course will help English teachers to become more specialized in bilingual education and support other teachers in team teaching or to teach curricular subjects themselves through English. The course also offers primary and secondary school teachers who teach curricular subjects (eg. geography, maths, science) in English practical methods to support their learners in English. This course helps teachers understand CLIL methodology and apply best practice in the classroom.

Directed towards

English teachers or people with a degree in a similar area of study, with a good level of English proficiency, and interest in teaching.

Overall aims

In this course, students look at the factors to be considered in creating CLIL classes, in particular the selection and adaptation of materials, and the incorporation of activities to maximize learner involvement.

    • Chilean context
    • Aims and rationale for using English in the Content Areas
      Skills across the curriculum
      Variations of CBI/immersion language programs

    • Importance of clear learning objectives (content and language)
    • Selection/Adaptation of materials

  • Nivel de inglés B2 (FCE o prueba interna)

 

Extranjeros:
En caso de ser aceptados al programa deberán presentar su Certificado de Título profesional visado por el Consulado de Chile en el país de origen y por el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores en Chile, además de su visa de estudiante al día.

*La Universidad se reserva el derecho de no dictar el programa si no se llega al número mínimo de alumnos.
*En caso de continuar los estudios hacia el Magíster, se deberán cumplir además, los requisitos propios de este.
